Mine does the whine when I make a hard, slow turn. Like turning in a court for example. I am kinda used to it. But if there is a easy permanent fix for it, I would like to do it. Not sure if I'd bother taking it to the dealer. But if you gain extra miles by replacing the clutch packs and it's covered by warranty, then I'm up for it!

From what dealership says, It's the power steering pump. Common with Fords. I had the TSB for the clutch packs done and it help with some noise butnot the issue with the steering. Mine is automatic transmission.

It is the power steering pump while under a pressure load. The lower the fluid level gets the louder it is. He stated that it was while turning. A gear whine would happen all the time, not just when turning

Not with the limited slip rearend. Notorious for whining only when turning. Especially after a long straight run on the interstate. Take the off ramp and turn one way or the other. They tend to scream like a raped ape.
My T-LOK doesn't make ANY noise when turning.

Just tires when I stand on the loud pedal.

Maybe yours was installed wrong?

No, mine doesn't either.....right now. I was just saying that "historically", they are a known problem.

Since it is coming from the front and only when turning that signaled to me that the power steering might be at fault. If you have a warranty on ittake it to the dealer and have it corrected.

sorry i didnt state that it is an auto, and the noise is from up front almost like a bearing. or something rubbing. thanks.

Hey y'all I have an 06 V6 Auto and it has developed a power steering whine since new as well. It seems to be louder when the car is sitting and cold and it is not really discernable at speed. I have had a lot of Fords over the years and they all seemed to make a few noises. With my 06 Mustang the engine has such a good note that the whine can be lived with. I may hit the dealership to have it checked, but after seeing that others have the same issue maybe as it has been said it is "the nature of the beast!"
Anyways I still love my Pony and I am glad we have this Forum to talk about this great car!- Giddyup! Daniel

Mine does it occasionally, but only when the steering wheel is MOVING. If it was the power steering pump, it would do it with the wheel turned and held there, which it doesn't. It's more of a faint squeek from the steering column/steering whell area. Is that similar to yours?

So no fix for this? I checked my fluid level and it was perfect. The steering wheel whine is very annoying especially when the noise is loud enough to turn heads at times.[sm=boohoo.gif]
