I love this.....SO......Did the poor guy that started the post get an X-PLAN pin #?

I think when you are ORDERING a car, instead of just picking one up off of the lot...this is about as good a deal as you can get. When the dealer hasa a car sitting on the lot for a while, you CAN negotiate a better price.....

I am an employee for ford motor.I get 4 X plans and 4 A plans per calander year.X plans are for friends and family of employees.I've give out over7 X plans to members of this board over the last couple of years.A plan is a better plan in the fact that it's for immiediate family members. It saves the customer more money on a new purchase or lease than the X plan.I've been employed with FOMCO for 13 yrs.I believe I'm a little more qualified regarding this subject than you.
The aboveinfo iscorrect. A true ford employee is entitled to A-plan, and he or she can give up to four A-plan pin numbers a year to elgible family members only. They also get to give out up to four friends and family discounts a year which is actually x-plan pricing. These can be given to any joe bloe on the street. The same also applies to retirees of ford and their plan is called the z-plan. They can give four z-plans a year to elgible family members and four friends and family(x-plan) discounts to any one they choose. A and Z plans are the exact same dollar amount discount. D-plan is a dealership employee and there discount is 100 dollars above A and Z plan. X-plan is a suppliers discount and pricing is usually a few dollars better than invoice pricing give or take a few bucks. You would be suprised to find out how many company's are a supplier to Ford in some way or another.

It's all based on the price of the car.The more expensive the car the bigger the savings.A plan is 1 or 2% below dealer costs I believe. My Mustang stickered at 34k and I paid 31K. X plan would have knocked off a few houndred dollars below sticker.

My sticker price(msrp) for my gt stang was 29,915 and my d-plan pricing was 26,600 and thiswas without any rebates because none were available at the time of purchase. A-plan was exactly 100 dollars less than d-plan.

Invoice will show the X plan cost at the bottom. Sometimes the X plan is below what the dealer will give you through bargaining, sometimes not. I bought my mustang in January when they weren't moving and I got the dealer below the X plan.

My MSRP was 29,590. X-plan was 27623. Which was $30 less the Inv. Also got car cover, Homelink dealer installed, 7 year 100,000 Ford warrenty, tire and wheel coverage, tax and 5 year tags, all for less then MSRP of just the car.

Nobody ever gave me a pin... however there's a way around that after doing several google searches. Buy 1 share of Ford stock like I did =). Contanct Ford shareholder relations... inquire about getting X-plan pin since you are a shareholder. They send you email of the application. Fill out application in 5 minutes. Copy your portfolio or your single or more shares of Ford stock (F is the symbol for Ford common stock) and email that as proof and the application... wait 1 hour, check email and smile as you receive your pin #, and don't have to worry about wasting time haggling for a good price and save hundreds... all for the cost of a $10 investment.

Total time buying stock/requesting and receiving pin.... 2.5 hours. Maybe 15 minutes worth of typing on forms.

LMAO, The simpilest solution after all the BS back and forth between everyone on this forum. My original post however was correct (at the time of my purchase). It just happens that Ford choose to issue a variant on the X-plan to allow their employees to drum up business, not a bad idea if you ask me. I'm not sure if other manufactures are doing the same thing, or another X-Plan variable. All I know is what I read when I applied for my PIN using my employers discount site and what the dealer told me at the time of my purchase. It's good to know there are othermeans and ways to get a PIN if you want a FORD, and not some other brand like a Chevy or Dodge. By the way, My purchase price was below invoice and I special ordered the car. I like the idea of going in and not having to deal with a sales person on negotiating a sale price, it can be very time consuming and very frustrating.

Silvel2edge, good luck on your purchase!!

The program was brought forth to keep employee's from issuing A plans to friends (Not immiediate family). Before 6 yrs ago all plans were intended for retired employee's and or employee'sand somesuppliers also were privlaged to the A plan program.X plan can be used by ANYONE.As long as it was issued to THEM.In other words if somone gives you one your name is put to it.You cannot give it to anyone else.Moosetang please refrain from giving out advice about how the program works........You are completley WRONG and have no idea what so ever what your talking about. It only makes the advice you give others on the forum regarding other subjects irrelevant. If you don't know what your talking about keep your mouth shut.
Moose,
Goblue is correct dude. My best friend who i grew up with works @ the Norfolk Plant, hes been there for 12 years. (it will be closing on June 29).I have purchased two vehicles using the X-plan PIN provided from ford. They asked for my SS# and the dealers checked it both times . Two different ford dealers. Sometimes the local dealers will offer the X-plan for city employees and local businesses. i saved about 6.5 k on my truck but only 2.5 on the stang. As stated before the higher the price and the options the more you save. It may be stated on fords site about the x-plan but thats not what they are doing with it.
