You can actually take pair of pliers and pull off the stock ball tip and re-use it on the cut off. (FYI)

I wasn't aware of that, but I like the store bought shorty better anyway. I wasn't real fond of the twisted look.

The "twisted look" is so it doesn't whistle at highway speed, but a shorter one more than likely wouldn't anyway.
