RE: Pics of the Mustang's first DE this weekend
Bimmer: my first 'event' is coming up at Summit Point on the Jefferson Circuit. Just a 'hyperdrive', not a full-on HPDE. I am stoked, but my main concern is damage to the car not being covered by insurance. I've read everything I can get my hands on, including my insurance policy, and the NASA, NSX, Porsche, Evo, BMW, Mustang, Vette, etc. forums on the topic, and the only place I've found offering HPDE supplemental insurance is a company called Snellings Walters. Have you heard of any other providers? I'll probably cough up the $1,200 for 12 months of coverage for an entire year of unlimited events, but a dedicated track car is somewhere in my future, and it probably won't be this Mustang.

We had a guy put his M3 into the wall Saturday...totaled
His insurance will cover it because it was driver education but as we all know each year the insurance carriers are getting more restrictive.
I don't pay for supplemental I just use my basic policy.
We all joke at these things that if we touch the wall we'll just have the tow truck take us out to the highway and claim a deer darted out.
I don't drive my street cars near the edge. As I mentioned in my first post, I take it too 7/10th or 8/10ths of it's potential which is WAYYYY
beyond what I would do on the street.
I hope you have fun...best advice for road course driving...keep your head up...the car will always go where your eyes are looking.

Thanks, I love the body kit on your car !
If you want a good laugh, here is a thread from our DE this weekend
We had Red Bull there with their Mini-Cooper and we set up a photo-op where the Mini would come down into the front straight and get a point by from a Porsche....the funny part is when the driver went hard on the brakes...the cooler doors on the Mini deployed like Air brakes.
(By the way, the blonde in the pic was wearing my helmet--smelled like perfume the rest of the day)
