I can't believe we have another debate about the GT vs. V6 give it up, a tuned Gt vs a rental Auto V6 and you think that this is an impressive post....nothing against the V6 guys thou!!!
I drove in a Shelby GT500 and I got to say that Ford could have done a better job closing the gap between the 2!

Doesn't look like a debate, really, more like a comparison. Hopefully it's all in fun and promotes interest in these cars.

I went from a 73 VW with 40HP to the 07 V6. The test ride was fun needless to say.
When you gots the money its a no brainer, GT. Us lower downs with no $$ must buy
what we can afford. The $17087 I spent felt good to me.

I think what Rmays is saying is at least compare auto to auto, same mods. That would be a little more fair.

I do believe the V6's in their class were rated fastest car under 20k.

Now there is a respectable comparison, cars in the same class.

Yep, Car & Driver Magazine made the comparison. Here's the link. BTW, the '07 Mustang GT took 2nd place as the quickest for the $25K-30 range.

I would say the Mustang family is doing very well!

I have an '05 V6 Vert with an Auto & it's quick enough - not as quick as the GT but that doesn't matter. When I want more power the mods are around to do it. It's all about power to weight ratios - the GT would struggle to match up to my 2003 MG TF160 (4cyl, 1800cc,160hp) but only because it's a heavier vehicle. That's definitely not a crticism folks but I've driven both and the MG has just over half the power but just under half the weight - the laws of physics do the rest.

I think that one thing that is clear from the posts on this thread is that we each love the car we bought V6, V8, Stick, Auto, Coupe or Vert - so long as you love what you've got who cares?
