Default Paint chip

Today as i was getting ready to wax my car, i noticed a small chip in the paint on the roof. Probably about half the size of my pinky nail, all the way through the paint. I have no idea how, or when it got there. I pretty much wash my car a few times a week and never noticed it.

Well, i have no experience with touch up paint or anythign of that sort, does that do a "decent" job of filling the chip or at least coloring it? And if so where would i buy some touch up that would match my color? Aside from taking it to a body shop, any suggestions?

Ack! When I had a chip on my hood I used the touch up paint I got from the dealer *until* I could get to the body shop and have it fixed properly.

No one else could see my temporary repair but my eye was constantly drawn to it.

Makes me sweat thinking about it. My wife says that's just the OCD talking.

Go to your Ford dealer in the Parts dept.and ask for Touch Up Paint. It comes in a.5 oz bottle that you can use as a brush or pen. The color codes are below.....they'll ask you for a code. I think it was around $13.00 for mine.

UA - BLACK
D3 - COLORADO RED
P3 - WINDVEIL BLUE
D6 - SCREAMING YELLOW
HP - HIGH PERFORMANCE WHITE
P1 - LEGEND LIME METALLIC
SN - SONIC BLUE
TK - MINERAL GRAY
TL - SATIN SILVER
G2 - REDFIRE METALLIC
G9 - VISTA BLUE
T8 - Tungsten Grey

2007 Colors
U3 - Grabber Orange
G5 - Alloy Clearcoat Metallic

How much was it to fix it properly? Also, the temporary repair....was it really that bad?

I'm not the right guy to ask. I had some other damage within a week that required a reshoot of the hood, right fender, door, and rear quarter. Amazing what a dog leash propelled by a wash roller can do in about 10 seconds.

OTOH - I *know* you can get the chip fixed for less than $2,300

Ouch! well glad to hear you got it all fixed. As a broke A$$ college student i dont have the funds to fix this the proper way as i would like to, so it looks like touch up it is. LOL!
