First Car Show
Don't forget to take fold up chairs, cooler w/water, snacks, ect. and stuff for sun protection. When I show, my girlfriend usually follows me, just in case we forget something. Be prepared for lots of questions about your car and setup. I always cruise the S197's to see other peoples' ideas. Always a good time! Get there early, maybe you can get a good park spot to show.
Yes I agree guys about Club sponsored shows. This year in our club at our HUGE show in August we will be parked seperately and be judged by another mustang club within the State. Our cars will not be judged with the public, as it can be unfair! We should have over 400 Mustangs there this year!
Thank you all for your comments and guidance. We had a great time. I showed up promptly when registration began and was the 41st car of 100. The show was interesting. I primarily was just an open show with very few classes. I was directed to part between a AAR Cuda and a 30s ford coupe. Most of theother entries where old men with old ideas. I didn't have oneparticipate talk to me untila couple withtwoCobras showed up. The public began to show up and people began to hang out and say the things you want to hear. "That is a bad *** car", "Is that ours?", "Isaw you on the hwy this week and hoped you would be here" etc.Won some door prizes and found some great mustang friends.
From here on outI will be looking for show with a mod class. Thanks again....
06steeda thanks for the suggestion of a second car it was a life saver.

When i had my '00 i went to some local car shows and did not win a thing although a civic with chains, yes i said chains holding down the hood won almost every time. They were all judged by the participants and where i live its all older people with old cars and they all vote for their friends. Although you should go to enjoy yourself and the other cars that kinda rub'd me the wrong way and i will only go to car cruises from now on and not the shows. But glad you had some fun
Yea, some of the old-timer car clubs will **** you off due to their skewed view on stuff. Last summer there was an award at a show for "best paint" There is a guy around here who has amazing paint skills and painted his dad's new truck up very nice. Of course he won the award, the truck looked awesome. They got all pissed and were shouting "Of course his paint is nice, it's only a year old!" Thinking one of them should have won it for their original paint 72 Cutlass or something. They didn't seem to understand that it was "best paint" not "best original paint" meaning to me, that obviously a custom paint job would win this class.

Glad you had a great time, we're all here to help. The more you show, the easier to prepare. I've had '68 & '76 F'birds, and compared to the '06, it's just as much work to prepare. A true car enthusiast will appreciate any year car, because they understand the passion and work the owner put into their dream car! Congrats on your 1st of many shows!!
