My brother was laying under his car one time while using jack stands. Something happened the car fell on him. Thank god my dad and grandpa were there. I heard yelling so I ran outside and picked up on the rear with the other 2 and we got it up just high enough for him to get out. My neighbor came running over and was holding it after we let go and I swear he was holding it up by himself.

glad to hear you are OK and can still enjoy your ride (even if you can't drive at the moment) least of the worries....

I don't think there is a worst death scenario than getting crushed under your car. I'm at malfunction No.6 skydiving. It's really not a big deal, you look, locate, pull right andpull left.

I get scared getting under my cars a lot more than when the door opens on a skydive.

Be carefull...

UGH!!!

When I was opening this thread I was calm and cool figuring 'oh just another stupid red light runner that we have to dodge". Then I saw the word "jack" and my stomach about turned over!!! I hate getting under the car (though I do it every week) and just have a general fear of jacks! Jack stands tend to ease my tension, but your story didn't help! lol.

Anyways, everybody watch out!!! Working under your car and having it fallIS NO DIFFERENT THAN SKYDIVING AND HAVING YOUR PARACHUTE NOT OPEN! The only difference is, at least in skydiving you'll die quickly!

That would have made some good film footage.
I watched my neighbor jack up his truck with an old bumper jack. He was crawling under it as I drove off laughing.
I almost died today also. I drove the freeways in Houston.

Glad you'r ok dude. I have seen too many ramps and stands sink into the blacktop, That is why I never work on a blacktop driveway anymore. Only on concrete, or dirt for that matter. If you dont have concrete available, Put a piece of wood twice as big sqaure as the base of the jackstand under it and that will help spread the load and keep the stand from sinking in.
