The last response was appreciated! Now just because Doug's tune had the most power, I still may run Blue Oval daily, because it still had the best response, and was the most fun to run. I dont know he did it, but it shows that dyno power doesnt always equal seat of pants. I even ran Blue Oval a second time to see if there was something missing on the 1st run. My comments last night were just a tad bitter, as to people bashing results, that were as about as controled as you can get. I even stated in my 1st e-mail, that there is always differences, so it was just info from that dyno, that day. I for one was dissapointed w/results, and am really interested as to how Blue Oval got this car to just jump w/over 10 less tq???
would you feel safe adjusting the mail order tunes from these guys the same way?? 1.5 deg and take some fuel out?? my a/f was taken at the tail pipe, so it maybe was a little richer than what it showed..

richer might slow you down. its likely that any mail tune is slightly richer than it should be as it is, because they want you to be safe. off of a tune that came with the tuner, i'd add at most 1.5 degrees of spark all around, and gosomewhere around -5 to-7.5 on the fuel so u dont get codes. if u get a lean code after adding spark, add fuel or remove some spark. i heard that if u add to much spark the car senses it and retards automatically.

I would leave the settings the way they are unless you contact the tuner. Usually it is safe to take timing/advance /etc out of the tune but not so much in. If you really want to get the most out of the car find a good place to have it dyno tuned.
It is so hard to do that around here, I love Marv, but he just made it OK and probally very safe. He didnt do alot in the way of pushing the envelope to get the most out of the car. I need to find someone w/some large stones to start stupid aggressive, and back it down to keep me from blowing up.
I'm sorry I didnt read the whole thread just some, and would like to know which of Doug's tunes you are running. To my knowledge Brent doesnt differentiate his tunes the way Doug does(ie race, torque, performance). That may not mean much to your comparrison but it also may mean alot. Maybe I'm just conservative but I wouldnt let anyone tune my car who is set up more for imports but rather I would prefer someone who specializes in the s197. That being said while the mail order tunes will certainly get you close every car is different so a dyno tune is whats going to get you most provided you find someone qualified for the task.

23 rwhp and 16 rwt is pretty good for just a CAI and Tune. Imassuming theexhaust was included in the baseline.
I have seen anywhere from 8to 29 rwhp from a CAI and aTune. Some carsrespond better than others.

i got better results than his b@ma tune on my dyno tune and i have fewer mods (though i got 17" wheels).
