What I find comical is that I don't think any Mustang Owner would turn down a free Shelby GT500 body kit. And what's really funny to me is that it's not the $2500 worth of Shelby Parts that make you a Poser ... it's the $50 emblem ...
Yes you are right its the emblem....same applies with say a Z28....a camero is just a camero but the minute you slap the Z28 on there, it gets more respect Hell i cant tell the difference between the last gen camero other than that badge.....the same applies for many and the mustang, they look for the GT sign, Take a V6 and slap a GT on it and many people will think its a GT, no doubt about it....same with the Cobra......You could out shelby lettering on it and the same thing would happen. The emblems are like a "Holy Grail" when you start putting those on, that is when the line is crossed. Like I said I dont think the emblem would be bad on the grill but I would keep it off altogether if it was me.

I was cruising in Beverly Hills after breakfast w/ my 6 year old this morning when a guy in an F430 pulled up. I pulled away so he can put on a show for my son. He pulled next to me and asked "Is that a GT or a Cobra. I cant tell but it looks unreal (with a thumbs up)." I told him its a GT with alot of time put into it. He replied,"Whatever it is, it looks beautiful" and he added, since when he put on a show, I was right along side of him and did not fall back," And it sounds amazing, not to mention it seems pretty damn fast to keep up with this. Keep it up young man and you too can transform your horse to a prancing horse"

Bottom line is people will appreciate what you have no matter what the badge is and who really cares if someone challenges you because of the badge. Its classier to decline and you dont have to claim a loss or gain a potential ticket. I get challenged all the time, even before the front conversion. Dont get worked up over a handful of forum members who dont agree with your decision. As far as I remember, the US has a rather large population and most could not tell cars apart. Just enjoy yourself.

On the other hand, how did you color in the cobra so nicely? Let me know how you did it so I stop bugging you about doing one for me.

The thing is ... I wouldn't street race even if I owned a real GT500 ... I have a 2006 Buell XB12 if I have the need for speed ... heck .. my restored 71 Maverick Grabber is probably faster than my V6 Mustang and I don't even beat on that. I have a 7 year old son and he loves cruisin around no matter what we are driving. To paint the emblem ... I filled the entire thing with Testors Yellow enamel trying not to get too much paint on the unpainted area. When dry I used some gun cleaning patches soaked with wax and grease remover to take the paint off the high areas and leave the paint in the low ...

We have mustangs but aren't we all posing off of the older mustangs you guys think about it. We don't have the older mustangs 60-70(don't know exactly what year and don't really care) but thats what ford made it look like.

Its your car do with it what you want. You made the car payments or are making them you decide what your car gets.

WE ALL ARE POSERS WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THAT.

What are your thoughts? Could I just send you a new emblem?

Once my car is done I'll do one for you ... you can send me an emblem and some $$$ for return shipping and paint. I just want to see my work of art on my car before I see it on yours ....
