Good read. Even though it sounds very reasonable, is the source known?

When you mod your car, do you have to apply this formula to the new crank number ? or does the loss still stays the same as with your original 300HP ?

I wonder if it's possible to file a class action suit against ford for claiming 300 hp and every dyno I have seen says the GT has 260 or so. Isn’t this false advertising?
You know your right the factories should dyno each car and then only advertise each indvidual car casue that would be really cost effective.
Each car and motor are different that is a base line taken from several test motors that gives them a reliable baseline. But the finished product is different on each car.

Jeeze some in America are just to sue happy....

So you think they should dyno every car before it leaves the factory?

Bone stock with 700 miles on it, on a Mustang Dyno, my car spun the rollers to the tune of 258rwhp which equates to roughly 303hp at the flywheel. 258/.85 = 303. Sounds like Ford hit the mark to me.

That formula is from the 70s, and many improvements have come along which decrease the hp needed to power a trans or a rear end.

So you think it's ok for a seller to say they have something and not really have it?
A dozen eggs in a carton should be 12 not 11. And just because they say 12 on the carton , sometimes you have to open it and see 12.
Yes I believe if Ford says there is 300 flywheel horse power then there should be some documentation that says this and verification for what they say. The US government office of Weights and measures should buy a car from the lot and pull the motor and put it on a dyno. If it's 300 hp, tell the world, if it's 280 hp tell the world and make ford fix them all. If Ford puts 300 hp in there engines then that’s great , but if its less, then they should be exact or use the word "about" in front of 300. I don't think that is to much to ask, to get what they say is there and what you pay for.
