I had a 99 cobra that had the recall. Ford extuded the intake, and changed the exhaust to get the hp up to the advertised 320 hp. The whole contoversy was that the cobra didn't meet the advertised flywheel numbers when a certain amount of motors were pulled and checked on a dyno.

Yeah, let's make the goverment do more so our taxes will increase. Forget the fact that you, and everyone else, knows exactly how horsepower ratings work, or the fact you can look it up or just ask easily. Why do you want higher taxes? Seriously?

Are you bored and need a new hobby? I thought taking care of your car should be enough....

...do you even have a Mustang? [&:]

That 3 rd grade reading comprehension class was a waste, wasn't it. If you think this thread is a freaking joke , they why are you contributing to it? I didn't say anything about filling our court system with more frivolous lawsuits , I said a Class action lawsuit, that would be ONE (1)

So you say ford has a 300 hp engine, and ford says it, but wear is the proof. You guys just go blindly off into whatever land it is you go, Da, Da, ta Da, Never stopping to think, Hay, If they say it's 300 maybe someone should check, if it is, yea, if it's not then don't say it is, or maybe that concept , of getting what you pay for means little.

Now up until YOU started calling names this has just been a difference of opinion. You are an idiot and FU.
"Welcome to America buddy, just about EVERYTHING that's advertised nowadays is manipulated that way. "
what a stupid statement. you just made my argument and your to dumb to even know it.

What you stated was my point . and Ford already has done it in the past. Like I said 2 or 3 times now, If there hp claim is correct, then tell the world, and if it's not also tell the world and then fix it, just like they did the old cobras.

And to all.
I have no desire to make any money whatsoever , I wouldn't take it if offered,
The point of the whole thing was holding ford accountable for it's hp claims by an independent agency. if they are true, then what’s the harm in confirming?

Grammar... learn some, buddy.

Your = denotes possesion of something i.e. "Your car does not have 300hp"

You're = Abbreviation of you and are. i.e. "You're driving a car that doesn't have 300hp"

You also confused "to" with "too".

You have no argument, and your thread is a waste of bandwith.

Okay, the 99 cobra recall happenned because the cars really weren't putting out the advertised BHP, or RWHP + calulcated drivetrain loss. That's not the case with these cars...and even if Ford was way off, how many mustangs on this forum HAVEN'T been dialed up, or at least have plans to dial them up? Anyone on this forum who says they're leaving it stock, period is either lying to themselves or have willpower that I dare not dream of. And one more thing, since the majority of these cars are made fast with gears and suspension upgrades (besides the big ballers out there with FI or cams+heads) and maybe a total of 50 hp worth of bolt ons (CAI/tune/UDPs etc), why waste time talking about hp?

Yes I know there is a difference between flywheel and rear wheel. But no where does it say flywheel hp rated. There isn't a easy way to check flywheel hp. But even if that is the case , at 260 rear wheel hp on a dyno, I doubt that the trans and rear end use 40 hp. Especially on a stick.

They also never advertise rwhp either. Are you going to file a lawsuit against the companies that claim 10hp with U/D pulleys and when you dyno it you only get 2?

Yeah dude, I have had a baseline dyno done on my car. It put 265hp to the wheels....so guess what, I have a 300hp engine in my car after drivetrain loss is figured in! I know quite a few other people with s197s and they were all within 260 to 265hp. Lets see..this model has been out for about 3 years now, you think if something was wrong it would of been brought to our attention in the news by an angry consumer??? It didn't take long for them to realize it, issue a recall, and correct it at their cost in the past. Why wouldn't they do it now.

Why are you so paranoid about this??

And I'm not your buddy either, by the way. = KMA 2-to-too,two

You said, " That's not the case with these cars." just how do you know that? maybe because Ford said so? But then Ford said the Cobra had 320 hp also. Huuummm.
My car is stock. except for wheels. I'm not asking for the world. Like I said. If the numbers are correct , then whats the harm in checking? If you tell me there are a dozen eggs in the carton and I want to look, then the only reason you would object would be if there actually 11 instead of 12. Right?

briboiblu07
paranoid? I think not, I just asked a question about ford hp claim. every one here made it into some big deal.

that was on my mind too

the infamous cobra that didnt make full horsepower

ford only did the recall beacuse everyone started complaining, and then didnt make a cobra for 2002 ( was it ?)
