which would you pick
The canidate is:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....odel=Ecsta+SPT
Option A: Stock Size
Option B: 255/50/17 approximately $50 more total.
Which of these two would you chose to run on stock rims and why. I realize others might not like Kumho tires so feel free to express your brand and size as well. The goal as a good tire that wouldn't wear out terribly fast but still be better than stock. I will be getting 18's in the spring with summer tires so the ones picked here are purpose intended.
Thanks

I've got nitto NT555R 275/40r17s on the rear, but I like the track and street racing...do you? If not IDK what you should do...I plan on sticking with the pirellis for my "normal" tires since they're cheap (about $69 each online) and seem to handle and balance out OK...p.s. they're the 235/55r17s...

I will spend some time at the strip but if I get into it to much I will likely ahve a set of rears with something for it. I just hate the performance on the street of the pirellis....they suck.

RE: which would you pick
well I like the nittos...I ordered some takeoff 17s so I can just swap out in the driveway (unfortunately I didn't specify color and they sent me charcoal wheels and my factories are silver so I have a (slight) mismatch front to rear until I get the nittos swapped onto the silvers...also I thought the tpms was an option my car didn't have until we installed the takeoffs and got the error message re: the tire monitors...oops!
some people bag on the nittos but I like mine on this car and also had them on a z28...I think maybe they can't make a highly modified carget traction? but I'm not much over stock, maybe 45rwhp if I'm lucky, although I do have the 4.10s...

I haven't tried those particular kumho's but I had 275/35/18's ECSTA 712's on my old SN-95 and I liked them. Much better then a set of falcons I tried. I would say for the money they look good.

I will likely duplicate your setup in the end so the nitto's look like a good tire for the drag radials.
My concern is putting the 255 on a 8in wide rim and if I will get a bunch of bulge.
