The TC hands down. On an auto and especially with a turbo, your stall is crucial for performance. The stall can make or break a turbo set-up.
Any opinions on what brand/type I should go with? For the most part my stang is a daily driver except in the winter.

I say gears all the way. FanBoy is right about stalls/turbos, 3200 is enough for a naturally aspirated car, but probably not for one that has to spool a turbo charger, i'll also say no on the torque converter and turbo without stronger joints and beefing the tranny with a kit! Otherwise these modifications will severely shorten the life of your transmission. The clutch packs just can't take that kind of abuse and will reduce to a lump of metal neatly collected on the magnet in your tranny pan. Although, if it doesn't break a gear or U-joint it would be the single best improvement in 60ft times for any car. Takes much less time to get in the power band, assuming you know where that is after the tune, and CAI or turbo. Dyno your car when you are happy with the engine. You need to know in order to be able decide on a converter. Every car has its own personality. After I ripped apart several U-joints, transmissions, and a couple of differentials I installed a TCI transmission and converter with a 3500 stall and Moser Engineering 9-inch 3.70 rear in my TA. They take every bit of hate the engine has to offer and shaved off .8-.9s after I installed them. This is with M/Ts of course, not sure there is a street tire out there that would hold without using cheaters.

Basically, your car isn't ready for a different torque converter and it is a bit complicated in comparison to gears.

If traction isn't a problem, don't forget about sub-frame connectors

I agree and why I made my comments about the trans. The TC is more important than the gears but doing the TC without at least beefing up the stocker trans is unwise IMO.

The concensus right now on the best TC seems to be the PI multidisc.

If you can't afford to at least beef up your trans, I would go ahead with the gears first but a proper set TC is going to give you the most performance gains by far.

Yah, totally tear up the 60ft with a TC. You need some serious drag radials with a TC also. Probably wise to build the tranny and get the turbo on there before deciding on a stall.

Yea, go with the stall convertor. You'll need that extra RPM before launch to get the turbine spun up
