I have the '07 Shaker 500 system and it sounds great. The bass is tight and doesn't have the resonance that I hear on a lot of cars out there. The upper frequency range is almost too much. All in all, the system if great if you get it stock on a new car like I did. If you are upgrading a mustang without a Shaker System however, one's first choice should be in the aftermarket products; They look better, and they sound better than the Shaker 500/1000 when set up correctly by a professional.

The Shaker 500 is perfect for me. It's power and sound reproduction exceed my expectations and needs for the car I drive. I haven't had a single problem with the unit thus far.

subs are pointless IMO. they are annoying as ****. u dont hear the music all you here is BMMMMMMMMM BA DA BMMMMMM
spoken like a truly ignortant audiophile

subs are an amazing experience when properly used.
This is true you get your highschool "cool" kids that just blast the bass and say ..."look at my badazzzz system yo" ...this is bad and exactly like you say ....annoying...if you tune it right you get good backend and you sound like you are at the movies ....quality over loudness...always wins.

OEM has always been lacking. Custom tunes always sound better
when PROPERLY installed. No knowledge of proper install practices?
Pay someone or go without. No Shaker here and boy am I glad. Seen
hundreds or shaker take-outs on eBay. Some working, most not.
Wonder why? You lucked out and DIDNT get a shaker.
Its all hype with OEM setups.

I'm sorry that my Mustang came with the Shaker 500. I've been looking at in dash navigation units and I'm having trouble finding a place that will do the install without bypassing the subs. I even had one place tell me that it was difficult to integrate the subs into an aftermarket system and that if they did it would short out the H/U Won't ever be going back to that shop or any of it's other stores.

I haven't had any problems with the system and it sounds alright but you can get much better sound from aftermarket units. I'll eventually replace the amps and speakers but I'm just not ready to do that one yet.

Save yourself the hassle and just go with an aftermarket unit. You'll be glad you did.

Mine came with the Shaker 500. I replaced the headunit with a good Pioneer unit the weekend after I bought it and I'm satisfied with the sound for the time being. I may change the front 5x7speakers down the line but withthe 16 band EQ on the headunit Ihave a lot of adjustability.

Is it possible to get an aftermarket head unit to work with the Shaker 1000 subs?

yes, just buy the wiring harness/adapter from crutchfield and a small part from radio shack to adjust for the voltage.

You bet it is. The amps will need to be satisfied to get them to
turn on and off properly. And the levels of the inputs need to
be adjusted accordingly. Nothing special about the shaker subs
and amps. Except they dont put out 500 and 1000 watts as they
claim. So sad. Junk the whole system and go aftermarket.
Cheaper in the long run.

I'm on my third Shaker 500 and the thing still only plays half the songs on the CD's; this thing is a piece of chit man.
