Radar "jammers" are illegal everwhere. It's a FCC rule.

Being on both sides of the beam, my view is that if you think it saved your *** either the cop wasn't actively looking to get you or wasn't employing it in such a manner that would render your detector useless.

Let's say, for arguments sake, you are cruising at80 in a 55; you get a Ka or a Lidar blip on your Passport. You start to slow down. When you are decelling towards 55, it PEGS with a full Ka or Lidar instant on hit....a second later you see the cruiser hidden behinda stand of trees.

I "have heard" that this happens frequently. I would count that as a "save" for the radar detector. I wouldn't know that the officer was actively looking to get "me", but if he was actively looking to get 70+ speeders, by the time he saw me I would not be one of them.

+1 to that. I think they are good to help you slow down in traffic if your going the fastest. If all by yourself and as someone stated "instant on" then maybe toast. Saved me in town was going 48 in 35 when detector went off at 2 then 3 so slowed down and right around a bend in the road a sitting on a side street was a cop. Didn't pull out or anything. It did save me that time
