Default Yet another rim dilema!

Hey all,

I'm sure you all are fed up with these rim threads, but I have recently come to a crossroads again. There is no doubt that 20" rims will slow any car down. There is just more rotational mass for the cars engine to spin around. I was doing research, and read that for every pound you add onto a wheel/tire combo, it is equivalent to adding two times that weight to anywhere else on the car.

Just so we are clear, but if my wheel/tire weights increase by 2lbs each, that means I have added 8 lbs in wheel/tire weight. According to the theory, that means I have added about 16lbs of weight to the car. Now, I was wondering if any of you have heard about this theory. If any of you have, could I offset that additional weight by removing other weight from the car?

For any of you that have 20's, have you noticed any noticeable change in performance? This is the only thing keeping me back from going to 20's.

Please, please no "20's are rice" replies.

I just installed the 20" shelby razors a couple days ago and I did not notice any decrease in performance. As for the weight, I think the 20's might be a few pounds lighter than the factory 18" fan blades. Thats with rim and tires on both. I did not weigh them on a scale but the 20s did seem a hair lighter when lifting them.
I think that 20s do look awsome on these cars as it made the car look so much meaner. I really dont think they "look like rice" and if someone thinks so, I'll gladly take them off if that person wants to take over payments for me!
But go ahead and get the rims that you want. It really makes the car look so much better than factory wheels.

heres a crappy cell phone pic of the car

After i got mine on i went out for a spin, i couldn't tell any difference in performance. I still could break the tires loose going from 1-2 and slightly from 2-3 just like always. So if you loose anything its very minimal.

I couldn't tell much, if any difference in performance. There is a noticable difference in stopping distance tho, but I'm also running bigger rubber than most with 20's.

I noticed no difference in performance, power wise. Handling sure did improve though.
They did help too by lower my rpms a little on the freeway.

I think looks do out weigh any performance loss for me.
