The HURST is old school design just like the one I had in my old Fairlane. The design is what it is.

IMO the Hurst shifter should have been installed as original equipment on the Mustang. I would imagine the people that don't like the white shifter **** are of a younger generation and don't relate the classic look to the retro styling of our Stangs.

Hurst shifter with white ****= muscle car to me.

I can't say I relate to the history behind the ball being as I'm only 17 but I love the look and feel of the Hurst shifters

That is another reason why I got the Hurst shifter was because of the classic white Hurst ball! LOL I get a ton of compliments on my shifter.

And thats why you'll prolly miss shifts and lose races. lol
ORIGINAL: JRT1

+1 on hating the white ball in the s197, it just looks totaly out of place. [:'(]
Every option I have seen mentioned in here all look like ***, the t-handle looks just as bad as the white ball..
This is whyI prolly won't change my shifter.
JMO anyways. [8D]

I installed the hurst a few days ago and was surprised at how ugly the white ball was.... I thought it would look cool.

Im willing to buy a black one, maybe even a angled stick, but after a few days ive started to like the white ball... and people who look into my car can't help but notice the hurst shifter standing out... i might keep it.

and hey, i save $30+ that way
haha....told you to give it time before you judge....I am too young to really understand or be part of the history of the hurst but i am very familar with the white ball.....as one of the pictures in the old muscle car shows.....it has been around for quite awhileI wouldnt change it for anything now.

If you do want a black ball then get it off amazon, I like jegs for something i need the next day and larger orders but the $11 charge on something that was 30 is kinda tough to swallow. Amazon has the black ***** for about 25-30 and free shipping.

A classic design is a classic design. You dont have to like it, that is why its an aftermarket piece. You can get the short shift and retain the stock look. I personally love it. It is a serious conversation piece when people look inside. I might get the black ball should I feel like toning it down a bit, but hell, if I wanted things toned down, I should have not gotten a yellow one.

I used the OEM **** Hurst shifter. It has a shorter black stalk, is cheaper, and you simply screw on the stock **** when done.
