I would imagine the people that don't like the white shifter **** are of a younger generation and don't relate the classic look to the retro styling of our Stangs.
Hurst shifter with white ****= muscle car to me.

I do miss my share of shifts that's for sure.
however, Ididn't buy my car to race some fool on the street, so no biggy there.

+1 on hating the white ball in the s197, it just looks totaly out of place. [:'(]
Every option I have seen mentioned in here all look like ***, the t-handle looks just as bad as the white ball..
This is whyI prolly won't change my shifter.

I just got my Hurst installed yesterday...and I LOVE IT!!! How can you not fall in love with the looks of it? That is probably at least 80% of the reason I got it instead of MGW or any other brand in the first place. I got the classic white ball and it looks awesome in my Mustang. I am just 23 but definitely a fan of the old muscle cars so I know the history and heritage the Hurst represents. I will not be changing it to look stock. lol. The performance was definitely a bonus. It has a great feel. I don't think I'll be missing 3rd again. 
Not to hijack, but are people using the same stock shift boot?!? Mine doesn't fit very nicely... [&:]

i love the idea of having a hurst but with the updated and modernized interiors of these cars, I think it looks really out of place. Especially if you have the IUP and Satin, etc.
Might as well go ahead and put 15 inch wheels on the car. Just because it's retro doesn't mean you HAVE to like it.

I installed the hurst short throw shifter, the boot is tight to the bottom, the steel shifter itself is about 4 inches long then capped with an ugly white ball on the top, anyone have any suggestions or know of any mods to make it look stock, maybe put the stock shift **** back on?
