2012 Mustang V6 Engine Shutting down
Hello!
I have a 2012 V6 Mustang and twice now when driving and go to press on the accelerator the engine shuts down to a weird idle. The check engine light comes on as well as the wrench symbol. It's starts back up fine and may go a while before it happens again. Like I said it's done it twice.
I have it in the shop today at a ford dealer and they said it did not throw any codes, so they don't know what is wrong with it.
Has anybody had this issues before or know what it might be?
Thanks,
Kevin

Bad throttle body is my internet guess. A new one from Ford is less than $100, you probably spent more money than that already just to have the dealer look at your problem Lots of youtube videos on how to remove and install a new throttle body. Very easy to do yourself

Does Ford have a reason why the TPS on the throttle body wouldn't throw a code when it does cause the check engine light to come on? Ford needs to evaluate this because it is a drivability and safety issue.
Do you know if there is a place to post these concerns with Ford?
Thanks,
Kevin

Ford had a customer satisfaction program that expired 2 or 3 years ago for free replacement of the throttle body for some 2011 and 2012 Ford V6. My VIN fell under this and Ford replaced my throttle body for free, I wasn't having any problems with mine but had it replaced anyway. The symptoms were what you have. Check engine light, wrench light on and going into 'limp' mode. These will clear for a while if you turn off the engine for a few minutes and restarting. I threw away the letter I got with the number of the customer satisfaction program because it has expired and I had it done It was Ford's way of not having to have a recall for the throttle body.
Maybe have your local Ford dealer check your VIN to see if it was on the list.....Some throttle body's go bad when not on the list....................

They were a lot of people having a problem with the axle 'vent' leaking rear end fluid. The fix was to replace the vent or add a turkey baster looking thing. It had a Ford part number. Mine is OK. Check to make sure it's not the axle vent, I forgot which side it's on but its on top of the axle tube. If it is the pinion seal, I would think you are on your own . I'm no expert so what I'm telling you might not be true
