Default ETHONAL BAD

i have recently filled up at a local walmart gas station like i usually do and they have this warning sign on the pump saying that it may contain ethonal. ever since ive been filling up there my car seems a bit slugish or doesnt feel like it is running right. should i try another station for say like BP or 7 eleven. and i no the car runs on 87 what are the effects of using a higher grade fuel?

e85 ethanol is not dangerous to your motor. It will only be mixed up to about 15% by volume. The simple fact that it is potentially in there will NOT affect the octane rating, because the mixture will still have a minimal rating of 87.

Using a higher octane won't be bad for your car - it is when you use a lower octane than required that you run into problems.

Actually, e85 would be 85% ethanol. If its 15%, then its E15, so in that case, E85 would be dangerous to your engine. [8D]

No chit. What you failed to read into is that I was referring to HOW MUCH of the volume of the gas was actually e85. That number would be *up to* 15% depending on the state.

from what I've read it mightbe the fuel lines that are hurt by e85 not the engine its self (I might be wrong)
and ethanol burns faster so it'll lower your gas mileage (so what) but over time it will dry out your oil(the thin layer on the cylinder walls slowly waring a little faster (but it is possable to make more power on ethanol)

Actually I thought running a higher fuel can cause carbon buildup, since higher octane is less combustable (more controlled is a better way to say it) and is meant for higher compression engines or, in our tuning cases, engines with more aggressive timing.

Running higher octane with less agressive timing will result in unexploded fuel and carbon buildup.

Someone tell me to die if I'm wrong.
