(taking cover) I disagree. Ive had a set of american thunder flows for a year and a half. They are no louder or softer than the first day I installed them. I might be wrong, but Id be willing to bet that flowmasters are just chambered, they dont have "stuffing" inside of them. There is nothing to "break in". [8D]
(Taking cover also)

+1

Chambered. Over time the inside welds on the chambers may break away but, there is nothing inside like (Stuffing) to burn away over time.

Are all flowmasters raspy sounding? I think flows sound great on a truck, but every stang I hear with flows sounds like a jet ski when revved. I know an X-pipe can ruin the sound of a great muffler, so maybe that's what I'm hearing. Personally I don't care for the popping that occurs when coming out of a rev. My Borla Stingers only pop when they are cold...like the first time you rev it when starting up. Other than that it gives a nice burble that sounds like distant thunder. They are very smooth.

Mine are not raspy at all in fact, They sound just like a 60's muscle car sound. Keep in mind it has the X pipe from Shelby in it (Ford Racing). I have had them about 2-3 weeks and i and everybody that has ridin in it love the sound. As for the "Pop" sound, as you, only the first rev on start up when cold.

Here is a video we took at the HCM cruise last weekend that you can hear in car sounds. Its about 50megs so give it a minute or two to download.

That's a really cool video, but it's hard to actually judge the exhaust sound from inside the cabin (cockpit ).
