Hard Wiring a Radar Detector

RE: Hard Wiring a Radar Detector
I'm waiting for my Screaming Yellow ride, due next Wednesday/Thursday. Been driving an old BMW for a LONG TIME.
Probably not the same but funny anyway.
Long ago when the high end BMW came out with the electronic type automatic transmission a fellow took his car in to have a car phone installed. The phone installer found a wire to hook into the car. Imagine the new owner's surprise as he was driving down Hwy 280 in the SF area of California, his phone rang, and every time it rang the transmission locked up. I wonder how many times it rang before he answered? [sm=happybounce.gif]

You can alway run the wire down to the fuse box, pull the radio fuse and put it back in at the same time securing the pos wire, there should be something right around that fuse you can secure the ground wire to. run the cord up the inside of the a-pillar plastic molding and tuck it in between the headliner and windsheild. i've done this in every car i've had a radar detector in.
what kind of RD are you sporting anyway? I haven't checked around lately but last i heard Valentine1 was still the shiznit

That would be a matter of opinion I guess in regards to the V1.
I have an Escort 8500X50. I had it installed with the optional smartwire that is wired into the vehicles electrical system. Works great. I use the plug adapter when I move it to my other vehicle.

I'm looking into the Solo S2. It's wireless! My 2nd choice is the Vector 995. I usally run the hardwire up the a-pillar and across the headliner too. Then mount the detector up high, near the rear view mirror.
