Try using simple green to clean it.

 

this is a good excuse to spend money and get a new trunk mat to just cover it up!

If you do clean it definately use simple green, it is a neutral Ph cleaner. Its going to suck thought because the cardboard on the back of the carpet is going to get soggy. Just buy a new one I say

Arrrgh, the metal under the carpet is covered in oil. I was able to clean it up, but I wonder if theres hidden spots. As for the carpet I scrubbed it with regular dishwashing soap and it actually worked quite well. I don't care much about trunk carpet so if it works out then I'll keep using it, if not then I'll order another one or call a junkyard.

Lots of Loctite should do the trick.
