Thanks for all of the information Casper. I have heard that if you use the handheld tuners, and then switch back to the stock config. before coming in to service, the computer saves it in a certain location, and the service dept. can tell when and how many times the comp. has been reflashed. Does that make any sense, or have any truth to it?

Good question,

Is there some memeory built in that keeps track of last flash?
I purchased the extended warranty to 7yr/75000 mile, and don't
want to void it, I know they just look for reasons to back out once
they have the mula.
Marty

P.S. Thanks for all your answers to my prior questions!

I would also like to know if the comp stores a flash count. If not, is the SCT XCalibrator Flash Device a good choice? I am considering modding my GT and need all the info I can get. (1st time mustang owner/modder)

Ok, here is the low down.... No the PCM does not store any information. AND a technician will not randomly check something like that even if it were possible. Also, they will not void youre warranty if they see you have aftermarket parts... ONLY if the cause a problem. And still they cant "void" youre warranty totally. They can make you apy for the part that breaks because of youre aftermarket part. I install aftermarket parts in my dealership all the time. Im the only one, because i mod my car and i know how to install anything they make for Mustangs. lol. So yeah. Sorry for the late responce i was at work finishing up this project!

I have the Steeda pullys on my car. I will tell you that I did read on the Shawn Hyland Motorsports web site that the smaller crank pully can not manage the harmonics of the 4.6 that it said is notrious for harmonic problems. He uses a small pully where the belt goes on and maintauins the large mass where the factory one does. He said his has 92% of the factory mass where you can see the Steeda kit is extremely small in this area. I wonder if Steeda has any long term durability testing dealing with the 4.6 harmonics. SHM says it can cause bearing damage as well as crank damamge. If anyone else can shed some light on this please feel free. I am a little worried since I have the Steeda ones on mine.

Wow. Thats pretty crazy, it does have some crazy harmonic noise in 5th gear. lol. I used FORD's NVH and it pin'd it down the the pulleys. Yeah, im gonna go to SHM and check that out.... thanks for the heads up man.

Yeah I wasn't sure what was causing the vibration echo thing going on at 55 to 60 MPH. I tried putting it in neutral and it didn't seem to help much. I also had no luck with the shop that put my gears in. This is the second set and they still have a wine in the transition. Not quite in the gas but not quite coasting. My stock gears had a 23 thousandths shim and the last gear set required a 29 but the pinion depth guage called for a 23.5. When he set it up with the 23 it was way off on the pattern. Let me know if you hear any noise from your customers. The salesman from Richmond gear even ran this last set on the machine and said they had no noise and even left the marking compound on them so my gear guy would know what to shoot for. It still is making noise.

Wow. Thats weird. I had a .271 and a .276 backlash shims, and i used the old pinion depth shim. Unless marked otherwise use the stock one. I threw everything back together and no noise. not on accel, and not on decel. But a NHV noise in 5th gear only. Any speed, 40- 50- 90- 100. Doesnt matter, you downsfhit to 4th and the noise goes away.

Casper, so do you recommend not putting the Underdrive Pulleys on due to possible damage and noise? Also, this may be a stupid question but is it only associated with the Steeda pullys?

Last question. If I use, let's say, the SCT XCalibrator Flash Device, will this suffice or should I still take it somewhere for a Dyno run/tune?

Thanks

JC
