That's also old news (even though it's only a month old). It seems the guy filed the motion for an injunction but after that story was published it was rejected. It was rejected because he failed to follow the legal procedure of actually meeting with Ford and their legal team. Last I heard there was a meeting scheduled for late this month sometime. What happens after that meeting remains to be seen but I doubt he will get much satisfaction. Apparently, he spends most of his time trying to unsucessfully sue companies for patent infringement. Oh, did you know he's not just an inventor, but also a patent attorney?
Anyway, it is fairly common knowledge that the slowdown with IUP was due to the supplier of the aluminum panels having to retool to increase production to meet Fords demand.
Go to http://bradbarnett.net/mustangs/timeline/05/05/int.htm and read the section " Interior Upgrade Package and MyColor Delays " Brad Barnett has many sources in Ford and specifically within the Mustang department. Also read http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index.php?showtopic=14240

Nice find. Lube, I guess the public relations gal, in the other thread was doing the usuall damage control. Not surprised, they don't want us all running out and buying GTO's. lol

My local dealer advised me the one aluminum panel that goes across the entire dash is on back order....
However, the news and the fact that I highly doubt some aluminum piece is holding up thousands of cars.......
Now a lawsuit, I can belive..

Believe what you want, but 05 GT's and V-6's are being built and shipped with IUP as we speak. Any dealer that tells you they can't order IUP is full of it. As a matter of fact, the weekly commodities report from the factory for the Lake Erie region (one of the slowest in the country right now) showed that the had installed IUP on 33% of all mustangs built that week. Same the week before that and 100% the week before that. The 3 weeks before that ranged from 0 to 19%, which corresponds with the time that the aluminum panel supplier finally finished retooling for the increased demand. Dealers are being advised to consider ordering the "IUP Lite" instead of the full IUP to speed up their orders.

"Karpro" who posts the weekly commodities is in senior management with a Ford dealer near Rochester, NY. He gets these numbers directly from Ford (the AAI plant at Flat Rock). While these numbers do not reflect build levels for the rest of the country, they tend to be on the low side of what warmer parts of the country are getting. Brad Barnett who runs The Mustang Source is very close with many senior people at Ford and specifically with the Mustang program.
These guys are very knowledgable and helpful and well connected.
