Default RE: Ford Racing Shorty Header Gains?

Dont know about headers as im still on stock manifolds but I will tell you this, there is a pretty big gain swapping from stock cats to an O/R H or X pipe! About 8 months ago I bought the Pypes O/R H and swapped it in. I felt an pretty stout gain seat of the pants. It was on the car for a week before the Blower was installed. Fast Forward 8 months and I moved from Chicago to California. I had to go get it smogged so I swapped the stock cat pipe back in. Holey Flock what a slug! Couldnt believe how slow it was, and the weight of the stock set-up is pretty substantial. Of course once I removed the Pypes I had to start it up open headers before I put the stockers back in. The throttle response was insane! I only ran it for a few seconds but it really shows you how important a freeflowing exhaust is. If I were you I would go with the longtubes, a catless mid pipe, and any muffler as they show no performance improvements. Make sure you buy a bottle of aspirin because you will get headaches from smiling so much ...
