So....
HOW much should you spend in mods to save about 1-2 mpg? Thatequates to 16-32 miles per tankful.
Since I average23 mpg monthly (my Stang is mostly my distance ride), an extra 32 miles per tank(BEST CASE)is equivalent to about 1.4 gallons per week. At $2.70 locally for 89 octane I save $3.78/week. That's $196/year that I'd save. I don't know about you, but unless the mod had some other benefits, I'll simply remove some lead from the 'ol foot.

I've also heard that a FULL exhaust...i.e. LT's... midpipe and axle back gain you about 2 mpg as well since your car would breathe better.
Needless to say....nothing beats driving slower
.
Oh and I ALWAYS get FAR BETTER gas mileage on CRUISE CONTROL. Set it on 65 and you'll get 25+ guaranteed.

Of course, getting even 2 mpg better means the your return on investment break even is about 24 years assuming the DS is about $600. The bottom line is that there is no real cost effective way to increase mpg (other than just driving slower and shedding weight - remove the back seat, spare tire, run around half full on gas, etc), but if the excuses work with the wife, then why not? You have a Mustang. Gas mileage is not it's best selling point (though for what it is, the mpg is not bad)

My wife has an '07 GT that she averages 17mpg in because her right foot loves the floor and she doesn't care what gas costs because as she puts it "I didn't buy this car for mpg" but I digress, these cars are very capable ofgetting very good mpg. Prior to the Vortech I averaged about 24mpg and on the highway got 28 so it is possible if you modify your thinking, or buy a car that gets better mpg.
