I like the Kenwood DNX7100, research the Pioneer and Kenwood. The Kenwoods have always been a better fitfor me.

I have an Eclipse AVN5510 (I think there may be a new model out now), and I love it. The navigation style is the same as Toyota, it has never let me down, very easy to follow.

too bad! I was hoping there would be recommendations for GPS units that were affordable! What have you all been using for plain GPS units? Hopefully under $300. Where are they mounted?
I have been needing just a plain GPS because when I travel I want to know where the auxilary roads are. Especially here in Calif, with the fires, truck crashes, etc. We need to be able to just look at a GPS and see that there's a road that I can use to get off the freeway.
Saw a Tomtom ONE XL at Best buy for just $299.

tomtom sucks. and portable gps/nav's are kinda lame.

But a lot of them dont update for crap. Go for a big company that actually has updated maps.

here is a dumb question, since I'm happy with the performance of my shaker 1000
and my budget only allows for a head unit upgrade, will the rest of my system still work with these aftermarket head units (like my subs)>?
