Personally I love the sound! Among other things with this car it puts a smile on my face every time!

 

My 67Cougar has old school california turbo mufflers from back in the day and has turn downs aimed at the ground right before the rear axle. It is a 289 auto with headers and a cam... and some other junk, but when you let off it in first, it makes the same type of sound, except it sounds like a machine gun. It can really scare the crap out of unsuspecting drivers in the other lane. It's fun.

 

I don't like the sound at idle, it's burbely. I think it has to do with the three valves and the exhaust gases mixing up thru the h or x pipes instead of a pipe coming from each bank of the motor(true duals). Just my opinion

 

I like the sound of the old Mustang's just like most of you, but I like the sound of ours just as much. At first I didn't like it as much but once I excepted that they just sound different I started to really like the "new" sound. Adding the Corsa's didn't hurt either! A guy at work just complemented me on the way my car sounds and starting asking what mods were on it. He seemed kinda surprised to hear that it was mufflers only.

 

A boat is a pretty good description of the sound. It gurgles, blubs, blurbs, pops when letting off the gas.
