My $4 theft "deterrant" system

RE: My $4 theft "deterrant" system
since its battery operated, I'm not in love with the fact that it will blink constantly... or do you have it setup on a switch so that it doesn't blink when the car is running?

Yeah my stang has a blinky light already. (I thought they all did)[:-]
I guess that would work if you sleep in your car. However, if you leave it on the dash like the blinky light, more than likely someone will break in and steal it. [&:]

So when the batteries die, you have to take it apart again. It's a cool idea, but just seems like a lot trouble for a fake anti-theft system. Why not just buy one and be done with it?
If I'm not mistaken, your insurance company should give you a discount if you have one on your car.

Yea, I don't know if they all do, or if it was something that just came on active anti theft like I have.

Not diggin the batteries or the constant flash "but not
if you install a toggle switch" that you must now remember
to flip []for it to be effective? I dont know of any aftermarket
alarms that use a GREEN LED to indicate it being armed.
You CAN hook it up so it will be car powered and only work
when the key is off. Its a little tricky to understand how but
it can be done. You hook the positive side of the LED thru a
current limiting resistor to 12V constant. Then the negative
lead of the LED is hooked to something that is not powered
when the key is off. Key off, LED sinks thru the unpowered
load and sources thru the constant 12V and resistor. Turn
key on and the negative lead of the LED goes positive and
turns off. This ideahas been around since the dark ages.
My Stang has an OEM flashing RED light on the insturment panel
to thwart theives.
