Default stupid failsafe

anyone know why my engine went into failsafe mode after about 5 minutes from leaving my house when i was barely going 25....i dont ever beat on it...change the oil every 3 g's, i have the brenspeed 93 tune, i got it back home then reinstalled the 87 tune thinking that i could have bad gas for the 93 tune....there were no codes thrown....after the reflash it statrted up fine and i drove it today with no problems....anybody ever get a failsafe out of nowhere for no reason

not sure why you got the failsafe that time.

there are a whole bunch of sensors working to
keep your engine happy and healthy and maybe
once in awhile, the PCM sees an erroneous
signal and try's to protect your engine.....

mine did it because of a bad throttle positioning sensor on the throttle body. It was throwing tb codes and the dealer fixed it under warrenty. GL

My car has only stalled while at a stoplight 3 times. No "failsafe" or codes thrown up. It has started right back up everytime. I dont know what the hell it is. No way anyone is gonna know what your situation is either. I run a shop, and can tell you if no light is on, a scan tool wont be able to help. OCCASIONALLY, a code can be pending. But if you have started your car more than a few times after it happend, that pending code may no longer be stored in the ECU. Only way for a shop to verify, and correctly diagnose a problem is that it must be acting up while they have it. Otherwise its just educated guessing.

I went into failsafe once long ago before the mods....turned it off and then back on, never seen "limp" mode since

Never had it happen to me but I would assume if you were running a 93 octane tune and got some really bad gas one of the million sensors might have thrown a code and shut you down.

Haven't happened to me. Hope it was just bad gas.
