Default wheel help

I'm looking at installing American Muscles' Shelby Mustang GT500 18"x9.5 wheels. I'd like to put 255/45s on the front and 285/40s on the rear (like on the GT500s). Does anyone have these wheels and/or tires? Will the stock s197 take these wheel and tire sizes? Comments please.

Those sizes will work fine and many people run those exact sizes. I personally wouldn't do it though, the rear tire is about a 1/3 of an inch small than the front. If it were me I would run either the 275/40/18 or 255/45/18 up front and the 295/45/18 out back.

FYI - The 295/45/18 will work in back, as thats what I run now, and many other people also run it. The 275/40/18 will work in front as long as the wheel offset is correct.

Here's something for you to play with...

I wonder why most seem to prefer the 18" by 9" rather than 9.5" or 10" wheels. I think the wider wheel looks better.

Would be interested to see how the 295/45-18 would look in the back as I believe I just messed up and ordered the wrong tires. I currently have the 255/45-18 up front and the 285/35-18 in the rear. I think the rears are too short. What do you guys think? They have like 10 miles on them.

Hey I a question on the tire size...can I say go 305/35/18 on the rear without having to do anything special to the car? Something that I have always thought about....

The link you posted says 255-45-18 and 285-40-18 are the same diameter.
