I don't think the blinders, jammers, radar reflecting bras, or even the "anti-radar" car wax (the stupidest thing I've ever seen) work.

I've been passed by LOTS of police that see my radar lights (the passport 9500 has a bright red LED on the power adapter that pretty much lights up the car interior when it goes off flashing). The LED flashesquicker as the cop gets closer so by the time he's next to me it's going crazy lol! Fortunately this thing never falses so it doesn't really bother me.

They don't pay me any attention but it would be nice to have a more stealth effect.

Given the nature of how radar works and how the average officer "runs" radar a detector will save u a fair amount of the time. However, if an officer/trooper does it right they wont help at all.

ok... so i bought a cobra 9330 today and i guess its pretty cool to see it go off when i see a cop or "your speed limit signs"... but what does it mean when it blinks the "X", "K", "Ku", Ka", "VG2" etc... i see those blink sometimes but dont know what it really means.. but when it does flash i just slow down...

can someone explain to me what each mean! please!!!

thanx~

Valentine 1 all the way...

Got mine taken away in virginia. Got busted doing 91 in a 65, younger officer gave me a choice, either hand over the radar or take the two tickets for speeding and having an illegal radar. Needless to say, handing over the radar was cheeper than legal expenses

Sorry for the hijack

the k,x,ku,ka are different kinds of radar. I don't know alot of cops that use X, and if its around town its probually just a slideing door to a business. The K bands are usually serious like handheld laser guns and stuff. I would advise you to slow down around those warnings.

I found it's cheaper to just keep a dozen fresh doughnuts in the car to bribe the cop with the Kodak!

2 months into getting my new GT, I got a ticket for doing 40 in a 35. He picked ME out of about 5 cars driving around me, no doubt because I was in the mustang. I tried to argue my way out of it due to my having a perfectly clean driving record for the first time in years but he wouldn't hear it.

I was so totally pissed off that I pulled into the next Best Buy I could find and bought my detector that day. I also took the defensive driving course and had that freaking ticket wiped off my record. I don't want another one.

It's been 6 months now and I now know where HE sits and all the other ones. I haven't had a ticket since. Money well spent.

My Passport 9500 was expensive but has a "speed sensitive" feature. It NEVER falses. If it goes off you can better damn well bet there is a cop with radar around. Sometimes it will pop off with an X-band alert, but I usually just ignore those. I get hit with K and KA ALL THE TIME. I've never been hit with laser yet. Thats funny because that is what I thought they were using the most now. I live in TX and am supposed to have a front license plate but never put mine on. Haven't been hassled about it and I think that is what they use as the target for laser. May be helping me...
+1 on the Passport 9500I
This radar detector is, in my opinion, one of the best yet. When this thing goes off you Better slow down because it never gives false alerts. The GPS feature has saved me plenty of times, you can mark where the most common speed traps are and as you approach a marked spot the detector warns you and counts down by feet that a speed trap location is up ahead. Great for spots that have speed limits that change dramatically and the locals love to nail you, it always reminds me to slow down. Your always gonna hear from people say that if you get pulled over witha radar detectorthat it means no breaks and a ticket, but if you are pulled over and you are in a Mustang it almost means a ticket anyway. Mine has saved me and I don't speed all the time. It has paid for itself in not only fines but insurance and time and aggravation.

Don't get a radar detector and feel that it means to speed all the time and you're safe but as a tool to remind you when you have that moment of weakness. And use it wisely, if your the only one on a road with no one else around that is when you are most likely to be nailedwith instant on. Check out the web site for all the features this thing has.
