I put the sending unit in the plug on the driver's side of the block, beneath the exhaust manifold. It's a small brass plug threaded into the block. Make sure you have whatever you're putting in there ready to go as soon as you remove the factory plug! When that plug comes out, you'll only lose about 8oz or so of coolant, but it's all at once Don't forget the little copper crush ring or it will leak - I know this from personal experience
Gots a pics ofs the install for us technically inclined forum members?
Probably delusionally inclined...LMAO! Are these the mods that you have and you call yourself TECHNICALLY INCLINED?

does anyone have the part number for that adapter to hook up the water temp sender in that 157db posted the pic of. I assume that goes in the lower radiator hose or if someone knows the diamater of the hose so i can order the right one without pulling it apart.

hey stang9986, i would look into that spot
that MTAS talked about.....i think it's the
cleanest install (out of the 3 options)...

the only problem is that no one has posted pics
of this, or did a write up that i know of.....

if you must go with the autometer option

Yes they do, but it's hardly worth anything. There are no numbers on it - it's basically an idiot gauge. "Between the R and the M" isn't an accurate way to read coolant temp IMO. I might be able to post a pic of where that plug is I mentioned earlier, this weekend. I have to jack the car up and get under it.

2 questions

1 = what size do we get for our hoses
2 = where do we mount it? we should be measuring temp LEAVING the block and not entering right?

Hey MTAS...

Where did you run your power when you installed your gauges? I am having a helluva time trying to find the right place to hook up the power for these things and have them in use when the car ia running, rather than have them on all the time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jim

Jim, got this from m o d u l a r f o r d s . c o m :

There are 3 available fuse spots in the passenger side fuse box inside the car. Use an "Add-A-Circuit" (available from your local Advanced Auto or whatever you prefer) and tap spot C.
