Ducktail Idea (photoshop)
Hard to say -- you have to look at what a fabricarion shop charges per hour for labor + the amount of time it takes to build... R & D can be pretty costly... then again a shop may find the job simple -- make sure you pick a good shop and don't just go for who is cheap... see if they have pics of other custom jobs to give you an idea of projects that they have taken on in the past... reputatble shops are always best

Assuming I already have the spoiler (which I do) you think I could keep a project like this under 1,000$?

Morning guys...
Jay??!! Aren't you supposed to be asleep at this time?
The forum got you addicted for sure

Thai, as far as your idea, you'll have to start from scratch. The Cervini plastic material won't allow fiberglass to bond unless it's totally covered.
Fiberglass on metal is not the best either, especially with heavy adds on.
In your case, I would buy the Z4 trunk lid and weld the top skin onto the Stang lid. That way everything would be metal
.
A good shop can do that with minimal deformation from the welding, thus, minimal Bondo.
Jay is right, you have to have a good modder for that one and you'll be right around a $1000.

Pascal is absolutely correct. Metal is the way to go for that idea.If you use a donor trunk/spoiler, it will be better quality and probablycheaper cost-wise versus fiberglass. To do one out of fiberglass or another composite material would basically require building from scratch, bolting it on and smoothing with bondo/body filler. I work with sheetmetal and composites and ifI had a job like this I would go metal 100 times out of 100. Just a ballpark guess to graft a factory BMW spoiler onto a Stang trunk...probably 15-20 labor hours at a shop. Cost would depend on their hourly rate and any needed materials, so I think$1000 would probably be pretty close. To hand-build one out of steel would more likely be 25-30 hours and more like $1500. I would say you'd be looking at about 50% more labor time for a non-metal job. Either way it's some pretty serious loot for a cosmetic mod but it would be unique, that's for sure.

What do you guys think? think this is do-able?
the way I imagine it, is the same as the rest of the ducktails, only raised in the center 3 feet, to give it that "swoop" look.
Another rag-tag PS:

I like the version on the blue mustang with the more rounded spoiler delete edge. Don't like the sharper ducktail version on the grey car.
