Default Hellion owners....clearance issues?

I'm still up in debate of what FI kit I want. Brenspeed has had excellent service so far, and I would like to reward that. I really like their Hellion kit, but am concerned about clearance issues with the tubes going under the K member. I have not ruled out the Saleen S/C, but its not on the top of my list as its so common.

I don't think my 4.10's will be a problem with any FI kit, as my 20" wheels effectively reduce them to a 3.73 like Saleen uses on their S/C cars.

Is your car lowered? If so I would say avoid the hellion kit the consequences could be bad. If you are at the stock ride height I would still shy away from it (and I am). For me I lowered my last stang and will never do it again due to the PITA factor. For a DD the gains in cornering and look are killed by the other compromises.

Putting the hellion on basicaly cuts at least 2.5" off your ground clearance.

I think this really stinks because I think this is one of the best turbo kits out there and I would be getting one if it wasnt for this.

As we discussed earlier, I am currently looking at the new single kit coming out from www.turbohorsepower.comlooks promising just trying to decide if it is right for me. Have heard alot of good things about this guy too. I am swamped at work so I am trying to converse with him through email which takes a while. I suggest calling him. And if you get any good info, please share with a pm.

Thanks,

+1 - I am not a big fan of the hellion kit piping.

everyone complains of the tubing going under the a-arms on the hellion kit. That actually is not an issue at all, mine has NEVER scraped there. Whenever you hit a bump, that section of tubing goes up with the wheel. The issue is where the exhaust crosses back under itself beside the passenger side of the transmission. I am lowered 1.5" rear only, and that does occasionally scrape, but so did my h-pipe. I think a lot of the turbo kits have exhaust that hangs down at some point because there is so much more of it. The best setup would be one that flips the headers, but i don't know if any do that. Other than that, these cars have so little empty space it gets really hard to get all that piping out of the way. Overall the Hellion kit is excellent, Brenspeed is awesome, and I would do it again. I'm sure the other kits are great too, but I love my hellion. Installation was easy, and I did it on floor jacks. Clearance?? yeah, it's an issue, but I just learn quickly where the problem spots are at and avoid them. IF you don't like the thought of that, I'd recommend going Saleen/Whipple/KB, because there is no clearance issues with those. I could be wrong, maybe the other kits have better clearance, but don't shy away from Hellion because it goes under the A-arms
