Also no one has said anything about my question: When I drove in D1 and my speedo reads 70mph is that bad for the engine/transmission?
I would be suprised if it actually hit 60mph onthe speedo, as the rev limiter would've kicked in. Either it shifted to 2nd or there was an error reading the wheel speed.

regardless, how many miles are on the tires? You could get them siped at a tire store to increase winter traction. they will usually feel a bit less responsive in the dry after siping, so if they are only your winter tires, or are soon to be replaced it's a good idea. Siping is basically cutting across the tire, so that it has more edges to grab ice/snow. not as good as snow tires, but better than not.

It must have becasue I was like 4,000rpm going up hill moving a cm going 70mph, I just thought becasue I was in D1 it couldn't go that high. Becasue when it is noramlly dry out in D1 it starts to rev high around 20mph. I am just paranoid I could damage my car.

How much is siping? and most tires stores do it?

No damage to your car. There was no strain on your driveline since your tires did not have any traction. Even though your car was in D2, your car would have switched to a higher gear because there was no resistance from the tires.

Bottom line. you were in a higher gear when you hit 70 on the speedo. My guess is 3rd.

Don't know, as I haven't done it. a friend did it for his car. I'd call one of the chain stores & ask about it. I'd be suprised if they don't.

WOW funny...I was at the beach yesterday.

I really cant help you out because I have never had to deal with snow but i would say get some snow tires. Dont get a beater. Because like ShadyNinja said then you have tax, title transfer , and added to your insurance ect. just seems like a pain in the ***.

AHHHHH, piece of cake. I see 1/2" of packed snow and a wet road surface. I was "drifting" when drifting wasn't cooooooool.
