installing a hurst shifter

RE: installing a hurst shifter
Yeah, I did it with my 4' driveshaft in place. Major PITA with that huge DS. The main problem I had like everyone says is feeding it thru the transom hole. Have a helper "available" by phone or otherwise. You may need someone up top and below to get it thru. And have some long sockets and be ready to spin them for awhile. The bolts are super long, obviously for safety...
Give yourself around 2 hours or so with ramps and hand tools.
Other than that, piece of cake.

Also...
DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE TWO NUTS ON THE REAR BRACKET.
...I did and one of the threaded studs snapped off. I ran my stock shifter with only one side bolted up until my Tri-ax shifter came in, and then I drilled a new hole up through the body and put a bolt in. I also used rubber washers between that rear bracket and the car body....just for more sound deadening.

its a breeze. just take the old one out, put the new one through the hole, and bolt it all up.
i had the luxury of a lift so i just took the right side trans crossmember bolts out and the shifter slid right in.
