Default RE: Sequential light question

i'm totally lost on this, my sequentials(not steeda though) were complete replacement's, wire harness and rubber grommet to go in that hole, i assumed that all the plug and play ones were basically like that
The cabling is plug and play, but not like other plug and play sequential's i've seen where the whole harness is swapped out. This CDC/Steeda item splices into the existing harness and replaces one bulb holder instead of all three.
The harness you refer to is definately the way to go......

Sorry we couldn't help man.
I went through this crap with my Shaker trim ring...
I had to modify it big time. Of course, it was conveniently omitted to be mentioned by the manufacturer.

No worries Guys.
I wasn't sure if I'd missed a trick or something, but just chatting about it on here has helped me mull it over a little more and I'm sure that it's just a design screw-up.
I'll get round it.

Mine are Webelectric, bought from StangMods.com. They were a direct replacement, PnP kit. I had no issues like mentioned above. 30-45 minute install, and that was taking my time being careful.

Obviously you dont have the CDC from your incorrect statement. The Dynamite stick sequentialskit is a whole harness you swap out, not just the third bulb socket. No splicing, just plug in the new harness and transfer your bulbs. It took me about thirty minutes.

Wow, must be my eyes eh? I mean, I could have swornit says Dynamite on the Steeda (and CDC) Site, on the order form, on the item packaging and on the instructions[&:]

Geee, do you think there could be two different types ? Or perhaps I dreamt the whole thing. Oh My GOD,perhaps I have an Impreza and not a Mustang at all. Hang a sec, I'll take a grown up with meand go look [:@]

I have the CDC Dynamite stick Plug n Plays from Moss Mustang.
It was basically an 07 OEM mustang harness with the inner bulb
2 contact "clearance lamp only socket" replaced with a three
contact "clearance/stop/turn socket" with the added wire going
thru the OEM grommet to the dynamite circuitry inside the trunk
area. Truly Plug n Play. They even wanted to give me $75 for my
OEM harnesses I removed to replace with the CDC kit. Kinda a core
charge type of deal so they could in turn make more CDC Plug n Play
Sequential kits to sell.

From Steedas description it looks like they take CDC sequentials and modify them to fit
all 05-08 models even though they have different wiring harness connectors for the 05?

Product Details
Steeda's sequential taillight harness kit is a direct plug in to your factory taillight harness on your S197 Mustang.

It requires no core exchange, no splicing, and no harness modification making it truly a plug and play piece.

Steeda went the extra mile by designing one part number to fit all applications, even through there are differences in the harnesses of S197 vehicles.

Default RE: Sequential light question

The lights are working and i have a hole to atmosphere, I'll get round it using something high tech, Duct tape perhaps.

Using this hi-definition drawing [8D]of the addition I'll attempt to describe the install.

Basically there is a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) feeding cables out of each side to an OEM plug and socket, it's all covered by thick heatshrink. This is the inline harness addition which negates any reason to cut or splice the exisiting harness.
So far so good.

When you insert the addition you cannot use the grommet for a few reasons.

- The heatshrink and PCB 'lump' is too rigid to allow the addition to fold back on itself meaning you can't plug it in without sticking one end of it into the light cavity
- Even if it was flexible enough, you still need to run the single blub holder to the rear of the lens which would stop you using the grommet

Only way i could see retaining the use of the grommet was if the addition could be manipulated in such a way as to be able to keep it in the trunk area and to cut a slit in the grommet to allow the bulb holder cables through. But it just isn't going to happen.

Other PITA is that behind the light lens now sits the spare OEMbulb holder, half the addition and the spare cables including grommet. It's a tight squeeze for sure.

Sit back in awe as you admire the line drawing..................... [8D]
