Default Sequential light question

Today I installed the Steeda sequential rear light modules. They are the Dynamite plug'n'play units, as CDC also sells.

This question is directed at those folk who have installed these, it may not make that much sense to other people

The instructions are pretty lame and have leftme wondering if either I, or they, have missed something obvious. The instructions call for the multiplug feeding the light unit to be opened and the sequential loom inserting. Well, that's easy enough but you have to pull the grommet carrying the cables out of the body and essentially hide it behind the light unit leaving the bigass hole open. As you'll remember, you can't leave the inserted loom sectionin the trunk area because the bulb holder needs to be fitted and the wires can't get to the lens if the grommet is in place.

There's no mention of this at all and I was wondering what you guys did about this. As you know, the area behind the light units is open to atmosphere and leaving this hole open just seems wrong.

Any ideas?

I have the CDC.
All it is, isa wiring harness.
Everything is built in the sockets, so it's a new harness that you get.
It's just a swap really. The connector is inside the trunk and the waterproof grommet is attach to the harness.

It really is, plug and play.

Yea Pascal,I know,I fitted them today. But the wiring harness integration calls for the removal of the grommet which leaves the trunk open to atmosphere....

Oh, hang on, I think you have a different sequential harness. The one you have has three replacement bulb holders right? Mine has just one which replaces the inner of the three bulb holders.

i'm totally lost on this, my sequentials(not steeda though) were complete replacement's, wire harness and rubber grommet to go in that hole, i assumed that all the plug and play ones were basically like that

Ok Marcus, get some black electrical tape...
First, untape your factory grommet from the harness and retape it to the aftermarket one.
It should stretch enough for the plug to slip through, if not, get the damn CDC or any plug and go type.

The problem with the grommet Pascal is that it's a factory fitted thing, it's not a generic grommet with a hole. The grommet is molded individually round each wire, almost like it was formed on the loom.
Right now it's not a big thing, I never take her out in the wet weather anyway But I'm sure one day this will bite me so I better think about getting it fixed. I'll keep a look out for some blind grommets I can utilize.

Still, it's a VERY silly design oversight.
