Default Engine Overheating? *FIXED* maybe

So this moring, i drove home from my gf's apartment......approx 3 min drive time, barely enough time to get warmed up all the way being that it was 33 or 34 degrees out. My car stayed parked for almost 2 hrs while i was getting ready for work, should have cooled all the way off right?? Anyways, when i started it, the temp gauge already was right in the middle.....kinda thought that was odd. when i started driving, it started creeping up until i pulled over because i thought i was overheating. by the time i got back, it was pegged, but no check engine lights, or warnings, codes, or limp-home mode or anything. i still had coolant, and the engine heads were touchable, and it didn't seem or "smell" hot. i drove another car to work just to be sure, but what do you think?? i'm gonna go test it again later, but i'm not sure if it's a false reading or what. anyone heard of a gauge acting like this? it's not like it was stuck, but it was wavering back and forth when i turned my keys off and on......

btw, my gas gauge and radio have acted up when it's really cold like it was this morning, can my temp gauge do the same thing?? i'm gonna check the oil for fluid later, what will it look like? also, i will check my fan......

any help??

disconnected the battery, reset the pcm......seems to be fixed for now!! i'll keep my eye on it

Never experienced that. You may need to reset everything by disconnecting the battery and reconnecting.

that's weird...most likely a guage malfunction, because if you were overheating, you'd know it. sure your belt didn't snap? or something didn't stick? i had that happen on my last car and it caused the car to overheat even though everything seemed normal...

good luck.
