All tolerances are tight from the factory and require some time to work/wear together, just the natural break in will cause an increase in power over time as the internals wear and become more efficient. I know what proper break in can do for your engine.
I used to be a mechanic before I got a job that paid better, so please save me the tech lesson, regarding break in.

And I'm not expecting anything. Just asking if anyone can confirm what I've been told from both a local performance guy and my Ford service tech. The performance guy guesstimated that the decrease in power could be as much as 20%, which is about 60 hp and that, my dear Hubba, would be noticeble.

Where do I go for a reality check?
