Default 17x9 wheel help!

I've asked before but just want to confirm...

I have an 07 GT. I got a set of chrome bullitts of of Ebay from ACS Wheels for a good $. They are 36mm offset. I am looking to put 255/50 tires on them. My local shop is searching for tires for me - they've gotten good prices for me before, I get free rotations, stems, etc. - basically, I'd like to buy tires through them if I can.

They are telling me this set-up may rub, you won't like them, this is all not stock, etc, etc. Basically, anything that's not stock they push back on.

Will this set-up functionally be ok? Will it look ok? My understanding is that the wheel/tire will stick out just slightly more than 1/2 inch from stock. Is that right? If so, I think that will look fine, and maybe even better?

Thanks again.

I think they will be about 0.8" or 0.9" more on the outside. 17 x 8's are about 9.2" overall width with 45mm offset and 6.3" backspacing. Half an inch from the extra width and about 0.4" from the difference in offset. Effectively, most of the width increase was put on the front side.

With about 10.2" overall width, the 3.7" front side distance with those 17 x 9's is only 0.1" more than what's on the GT500 wheels (18 x 9.5, 45mm offset, 7.13" backspacing, about 10.7" overall width, 3.6-ish front side). Should be OK.

I have a spreadsheet that does all this math, just not on this computer (yet), so you might want to check the math. The above dimensions are per the current FRPP catalog.

OEM rims are 17.8"...I have some bullit wheels that are 17x9" but my offset is +42...which is the correct offset for the 05-08 mustangs for the rear at least...also I am running 275/40/17's with no rubbing issues at all...and the car is lowered 2" in the rear...

American Muscle sells 17x9 Bullitts with a 45mm offset for the 2005+, but they also sell Mach 1's in a 36mm offset, again for the 2005+. You should be fine as long as they said they were for 2005+. AFS and American Muscle are pretty good about that.

.8 or .9? Looking at my car now and figuring on another almost one inch sticking out (especially the front) - that concerns me.

That has to be the measurement to the outer diameter and sounds about right for a 17" wheel. The nominal wheel size - both the diameter and the width - is measured to the bead seat on the inside of the rim.

ck - Go look at a GT500. And see post #2 above.

It will be fine. I have 30mm offset 9 inch wide on the front. They don't stick out of the fenders with 275 tires - they're actually still tucked in a bit.
