Default 5x7 or 6x8???

I want to change the rear speakers in my '06 GT. On Crutchfield it shows that the rear speakers are 6x8, but I noticed that 5x7's fit as well. I was wandering what should I install, the 5x7's or 6x8's? Also, what brand speakers are you guys using? Thanks.

There are many threads on this topic, but I went with Infinity Ref 6810cs on closeout, they are fantastic.

Try www.hookedontronics.com and also www.crutchfield.com

Good Luck! Check myphoto album for pics of the tweeters installed.

If it were me I wouldn't go with a 6x8. Oval cones do not do a speaker justice. Go with a 5.25" or 6.5" set of components and mount the tweeter in the A pillar. Or go with 4" mids and 1" tweets and mount them in the 6x8 location. Or just buy a set of a 6x8 because they fit in the hole....?

Think outside the box here. Sound Quality > Ease of installation. It will take more time and money to do it right, but in the end it will be worth it not putting those 6x8's.
