I was thinking of "1967 to 2007" to show my love for '67 stangs, but then I realized I would be pulled over by people claiming that they started in 1965 and not 1967. [:@]

I spent two and half hours at my dealer yesterday dealing with this exact issue. I bought an 07 convertible, but the dealer upgraded the wheels to 17" take off GT wheels. Two weeks later, they discovered that the new OEM wheels/tires had no bands or sensors inside. Oops. They ordered and paid for new Ford bands and took the sensors off the original wheels. It took two hours of shop time to break down the four tires/wheels, install the bands/sensors, remount/balance, reinstall and train the car and the sensors. Between parts and labor, it would have cost something, something more than $50! But there are plenty of dealers selling even 18" chrome factory wheels/tires, and it is a matter of finding a set with sensors. Then it is a simple task to have tire store or dealer train the car to communicate with that set. Shouldn't cost too much for just that.
All in all, I would rather have it than not.
BTW, those with a base dash don't have a reset button whem the TPMS light goes off--but when my car had no sensors at all, it would only blink at start-up for around 20 seconds--or less. I would put up with it if I get to the point of having winter tires/wheels.

i suppose the tpms sensors are a nice idea in theory, and yes they could save you from suffering some serious damage if you encounter a tire problem, but to me they're a pita. i have two sets of shoes (winter and summer) and i didn't bother with the sensors for either so i'm constantly hitting reset. now it's just a course of habit, so i barely notice doing it when i start her up. my point, though, is that back in the day, people just checked their tire pressure personally. there are ways to identify if one's tires are low without the magic of tpms technology [&:]i know this sounds crazy, but i'd rather trust in myself and an accurate gauge than a constantly malfunctioning sensor.
