R3velation, the computer takes your avg mpg and calculates how many more miles till empty in accordance to how much gas is left...if you are currently getting worse gas mileage, the computer will tell you that with the way you are currently driving, you only have this much left for the tank...

that's odd, cuz i've been driving it relatively conservative because i'm still getting used to it. i mean sure there are some wot's here and there from stoplight to stoplight but nothing too intense. do quick runs to 100 really do that much damage to the mpg?

Say you reset your avg mpg and let it go for at least a few hundred miles...you average around 20 mpg. The computer knows that when you have 10 gallons left (not counting the reserve gallon), you will be empty in approx. 200 miles...make sense or no?

Then say you reset the avg mpg feature again, a few hundred miles later, you have an established 15 mpg...same thing applies and it will read around 150 miles till empty

i get it now. thanks mickey. so a little bird told me that a tune coupled with intake can also help my mpg? how often should i reset the miles to e?

the tune that i'm planning on getting is most probably a 91 or 89? i think? i want to go conservative on the car just cuz i literally just got the car and want to baby it around a bit before i start doing the real thrashing.

I had the key turned on when I refueled my car yesterday...I usually have the key off...maybe thats the reason
Exactly. Key on refueling and the SJB saw the key on
and the gas sensor moving fast as in filling up. SJB
went into Key On refueling mode and stopped
showing level for 5- 50 mins.

Some gas guage problems are caused from not
knowing the four modes of operation of the gas
guage and what causes the SJB to change modes.
It looks like a problem but its actually how Ford
designed it. Cars are getting to technical for the
average shade tree.
