What is a shift light used for?
More consistent shifting at the track.
It moves so fast in 1st at the track its tuff to be consistent.
Thats with 3.55's and a basically stock engine.
Now imagine leaving on a 150 hp shot with 4.30's.

Ok, thanks. I figured it must have something to do with drag racing.

its just nice for driving on the track and on the street. you dont have to keep a eye on the tach, both on the road. shift when you see the light.

Don't you just hear when to shift? I've never used the tach. Or is the radio too loud for you to hear the engine?

Most people do this when just driving normally. Racing at the track takes a little more attention as you usually will try to be shifting at a certain rpm. It can be very difficult to decifer the sound difference between 6000 rpm and 6500 rpm.

Autometer DPSS gauge style level 3. Sits next to my fuel and nitrous gauges.

Has some nice features I use on occasion.
