I never had a problem running my O/R X ... just turned the rear 02 off and Ford never says anything to me about it.

Get caught driving without cats in NJ & your walking home, they'll tow it in a second, I suppose many other states too. Just cause your state doesn't do emissions testing doesn't mean the cops will look the other way.

i thought there was no tune for an off road pipe and that the only reason you tell the tuner you have an off road pipe, is so that they turn off the rear O2 sensors removing the CEL.
Apparently, Brent claims 11 hp after a tune.

Now, when I placed my order for the o/r H pipe with Brenspeed, Brent told me that not all S197's throw an oxygen sensor code with the o/r H in place. After a few days, mine eventually did. I sent my tuner back to Brent and he made the adjustments.

if you get a good exhaust set up then you dont need to take them off. if anything just get high flow cats

You can see my exhaust set up in my sig - my dealer hasn't ever said a word.
