I have the14" shorty and it works just as well as the stock buggy whip IMO. I've heard some say that the 8" retains decent reception and others that say reception is poor with the 8".

Probably did hear that from folks with a 8". 14" is longer so probably is decent.

My 3.5" antenna works fine, but I don't care anyway because i don't listen to the radio.
